Flex your creative muscles to design, create, and iterate a card game in this hands on game activity and lecture. Ken Thompson, Assistant Professor of Game Design at the University of Connecticut and award-winning game designer, will lead this game design workshop.
In this workshop we explore how games are developed and how anyone can make a game. Ken and the group will discuss key elements of the game design process such as Mechanics, Dynamics, and Aesthetics; including what they are and how they impact the decision making process. By the end of the workshop, participants should have a clear understanding about what game design really is as well as resources to continue their pursuit of game design independently both in analog and digital form.
