Panels & Schedule

All events are drop-in, and some of them have limited space, so make sure to show up on time to the panels you’d like to attend.  More detailed descriptions of events in the printed program that day.  Click the image below for a larger view. All programs are for all ages, but please read the program descriptions to determine if the program is right for your family.  Vendors are located in the Children’s Room for the duration of the Con. Food trucks will be on site in the back parking lot.  Harry Potter Improv and the Smash Bros. Tournament are the only events with a preliminary sign-up, which you must do in the Children’s Room before the programs begin or until all spots are full (video game free play does not require sign-up).  For a map of where each of these rooms are, click here.

Doctor Who 101
10:30 to 11:30 am
A fun and interactive look at the 50+ year history of the Doctor, his companions and his many enemies. Join author and podcaster Matt (Matman) Herring as he brings to life all the incarnations of the Doctor and tells personal stories that help illustrate the love and excitement of being a Whovian.

Wizards in Space Literary Magazine Writing Workshop
10:30 to 11:30 am
Wizards in Space is a kick-started literary magazine created by nerdy writers for nerdy writers that celebrates original works, offbeat writing, and unrepresented stories. In this workshop, we’ll explore breaking through writing blocks, finding your voice, and tapping into your editing eye. By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a finished piece. No experience required!

Elm City Games Tabletop Demos
All Day
Elm City Games, located in New Haven, will demo a variety of tabletop games. Discover your new favorite game!

Get to Know the Real Ninja
11:30 to 12:30 pm
Ninja master Bobby McFarlane of Bujinkan Tekio Dojo will separate fact from fiction as he gives a talk and demonstration about what it’s like to be a real ninja.

Princess Drawing Class
11:30 to 12:30 pm
Learn to draw princesses from your favorite cartoons or how to make one up from your imagination.  Learn about form, clothing, accessories, and everything else that makes a princess special.  Taught by Art & Soul.

Harry Potter Improv
12:30 to 1:30 pm
Got Muggle trouble? Improv will help you think on your feet, gain confidence, and work with a team. We’ll use suggestions from Harry Potter as inspiration for some spontaneous, unscripted fun! This workshop will be led by wizard rocker and improviser Ashley Trix. Ages 10+. Class limited to 12 participants. Registration is required. Please signup at the Children’s Desk before 12:30 pm.

Disney Sing Along
12:30 to 1:30 pm
Sing along to videos of your favorite Disney tunes. If you don’t know the words, don’t fret! They will be on the screen to help guide you.

Draco and the Malfoys
1:30 to 2:30 pm
Draco and the Malfoys perform their wizardly hits sung from the perspective of Draco Malfoy. Note: This program will be held outside in the Library’s courtyard. In case of rain, it will be held in the Meeting Room.

Free Lunch Studios: Cartoon Anatomy
2:30 to 3:30 pm
Ever wondered how to draw your own cartoon? Learn about the foundation of character design, form, gesture, expression and a couple sneaky “tricks” we’ve learned along the way.

Cosplay Workshop
2:30 to 3:30 pm
When it comes to cosplay, the costume and your effort into it make it great. However, often we can’t spend hundreds of dollars to get the highest end material. Join the SCSU LARP Club in talking about handling making props and costumes on a budget, as well as tips and tricks from our own experiences.

Making RPG Video Games
3:30 to 4:30 pm
Ever wanted to make your own role-playing video games?  Come learn all about RPG Maker and other independent video game developer resources from Dan Rohelia, an accomplished indie RPG game designer.

Geek Trivia
