Edith B. Nettleton, first Director of the Guilford Free Library, died Sunday, January 26, 2014. Edith served as Director for 44 years, retiring in 1978. From that time forward, she was a loyal volunteer for another 36 years, developing historical archives for the library’s Historical Room collection. We were proud to celebrate her 105th birthday last July, which coincided with the anniversary of her 80 years of devoted service to the Guilford Free Library and the citizens of Guilford and beyond. Her last project, which she worked on through the end of this past December, was the creation of the digital archive of Historical Room photographs.
