An introduction to the foundations of modern cryptography by UConn professor Walter O. Krawec! Starting with historical ciphers as a motivation, we will build up to the modern definition of security and introduce some of the many fascinating building-blocks used in cryptography today. Both private key and public key cryptography will be discussed, including the basics behind web security.
Walter O. Krawec earned a PhD in Computer Science in 2015 from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken NJ. Currently, he is an assistant professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. His research and teaching focuses on cryptography and quantum communication.
