Guilford Free Library and Breakwater Books welcome renowned architect Peter Woerner for a book talk about of his debut work in sketches and watercolors, “Odyssey: Fifty Years of Travel Drawings and Memories.” In a time of Flickr, Instagram and digital imagery of all sorts, the quick travel sketches in this book speak to a different sense of immediacy. Reflecting upon the responsiveness of the human hand and eye, these line drawings and watercolors are a timely reminder that these, too, can be reactive, instantaneous, precise.
Since his first trip to Cuba at the age of 15, Peter has traveled in over 50 countries. He received his BA and M Arch from Yale University and attended the University of Paris. Having established his architectural and building practice, Peter Kurt Woerner & Associates, in New Haven, Connecticut in 1975, he has made a point to satisfy his wanderlust by visiting at least one foreign country every year, recording his experiences through drawings, watercolors and writing. Books will be available for sale and signing.
