The formation of the Guilford Brass Band-- a 20-member ensemble-- led by conductor Vernon Buell was announced in an October 18, 1906 edition of the Shoreline Times. The officers of the band are George Jillson, President; Robert Butler, Secretary and Treasurer; Frank White, Business Manager and Vernon Buell, Conductor. Members of the band are Leroy Bartholomew, Robert Bristol, V.E. Buell, Mr. Burdett, R. B. Butler, L.E. Coulter, Henry Dolph, Raymond Dolph, Edward and Oliver Husted, George Jillson, Ernest Norton, Harry and David Parmelee, George Putney, Clarence Stannard, Henry Tibbals, Fleming and Harry Wall, and Frank M. White. The child in the photo is Merle Jillson, born 1902.
