Henry Ward Beecher, 1813-1887

Henry Ward Beecher was the son of Reverend Lyman Beecher and Roxana Foote. According to the New York Times, " The Reverend Henry Ward Beecher (1813-1887) was the most popular and controversial Christian minister in the United States for more than three decades, from the 1850s through the 1880s."
