Art Exhibit Space

The library’s gallery space offers patrons the chance to view and appreciate the work of local artists.

Each month, the library offers a new art exhibit for patrons to browse, in our hallway and on the east and west walls of our Meeting Room. Drop in any time during opening hours to see the work of artists in our community. If you are a local artist wishing to exhibit, please see the guidelines below:

This Month in the Gallery:

  • Double Vision: Sisters in Cloth

July 2nd – July 30th in the Meeting Room Gallery

Showing in the Meeting Room Gallery from July 2nd to July 30th

This exhibit, “Double Vision”, grew from friendships between artist Lou Paffumi and members of Sisters in Coth art quilters. Each quilter has created a piece inspired by one of Mr. Paffumi’s paintings.

Sister in Cloth is a diverse group of art quilters living and working on the Connecticut shoreline. We are bonded by our common love of fiber art. Weekly meetings provide an opportunity for members to receive feedback on works in progress. Viewing members’ finished work is inspiring and also leads to learning more about various art techniques.

Working both individually and collectively, our goal is to promote art quilting. Quilting events and group exhibitions are two of the ways we use to inform the general public.

As artists, we continually strive to grow our vision and assimilate new influences. Group challenges allow us to work individually, yet collectively. These challenge provide us with variations on a theme and often become the basis of our exhibits. Our work has been shown locally, nationally, and as far away as France, Japan, and Australia.

  • Sears Gallagher

Showing from July 2nd – July 30th in the Hallway Gallery

    Etching by Sears Gallagher

Framed and matted etchings by Sears Gallagher and Andre Smith are on display in the Hallway Gallery. Each is a local New England artist: Sears Gallagher’s artwork consists of New England scenes from Maine and Massachusetts. Andre Smith is a local artist from Branford Connecticut. His scenes are from Branford and New England.

Artists interested in exhibiting their work are invited to submit a proposal. Prior to scheduling a show, we also ask exhibitors to sign a hold harmless and to submit some additional details about the exhibit so that we can post the information on our website. Priority will be given to local and Connecticut artists and we request that all exhibits be appropriate for family viewing.

  2. After a librarian confirms your exhibit date, upload a brief description of your exhibit and a representative photo. Please use jpg, gif, png, or webp formats and do not exceed 1MB in file size for your image.
