Join author Margot Clark-Junkins as she discusses her book Following the Front: The Dispatches of World War II Correspondent Sidney A. Olson.

Following the Front offers a trove of mostly unpublished, unedited WWII dispatches which include everything about life during WWII, from details of military strategy, to the daily grind of a soldier, to the horrors of Nazi rule. The dispatches, written by one man in chronological order as he moved from city to city, were completed within hours or days of each event described. From his singular point of view, each “as it happened” narrative feels immediate, dramatic, and more terrifying than reminiscences found in a memoir written after-the-fact. Taken as a whole, the book drives home to its readers the importance of maintaining a civil society and the rule of law when faced with the threat of Fascism.

Margot Clark-Junkins attended Mount Holyoke College and received a MA in Design & Curatorial Studies from the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. She writes a column called “Following the Front” for Substack and is currently at work on a book of short stories.

Copies of Following the Front will be available for sale and signing.
