Join the Guilford Poets Guild for a powerful evening of literature and conversation at the Guilford Library on April 9th at 6:30 PM. The evening will begin with an open mic and then segue into hearing our featured poet, Kashawn Taylor.
We are honored to host a reading by Kashawn Taylor—a formerly incarcerated writer and educator based in Connecticut whose work speaks with clarity, depth, and urgency. Taylor holds a BA in English and Psychology and an MA in English and Creative Writing, and has continued to build an impressive literary career through his writing.
His work has appeared in numerous publications, including Prison Journalism Project, Indiana Review, Lucky Jefferson, Poetry, and more. His poetry collection subhuman. is available now from Wayfarer Books and other retailers.
Taylor currently teaches Creative Writing 101 and Memoir Writing at Gotham Writers Workshop and serves as the 2026 Audience Engagement Fellow at Prison Journalism Project.
Come hear a compelling voice in contemporary literature, connect with the community, and experience an evening of thought-provoking storytelling!
