Event Details

As part of our nation’s 250th anniversary celebration, the subject of this workshop will be heroes from our country’s revolution. You will create a successfully executed portrait with easy-to-follow measurements, blending and shading using a variety of pencils and shading techniques. Instructor will provide photos and handouts.

Patty Meglio is a native Connecticut artist and writer. She paints with oils, pastels and watercolors from life, and often paints en plein air at different locations throughout New England. Patty’s work is modern impressionist style, usually depicting country landscapes, seascapes, and still life. Patty instructs Drawing and Oil Painting at Hamden Adult Education Enrichment Classes and the Guilford Art Center, as well as providing private instruction. She loves to share her knowledge about art and guide her students as they develop their creations. During the COVID pandemic, Patty started writing a free weekly newsletter with articles on painting and drawing instruction and art history for more than two hundred of her friends and former students as a way to inspire and communicate. Her articles can be found on her blog, Pen ‘n Paint on Art and Writing. Patty has exhibited in numerous venues throughout the state of Connecticut and New Hampshire. Her work is held in private collections throughout the country.
