Guilford Town Historian Joel Helander will present a program on the life and times of Dr. Elisabeth C. Adams, who practiced medicine in Guilford for the long period, 1951–1987. Dr. Adams’s warm spirit and humane efforts day & night (24/7) became more than a medical practice. It became a unique ministry to the people of Guilford and neighboring towns. Her legacy yet lives with her namesake E. C.Adams Middle School.
Helander’s perspectives on Dr. Adams are largely a result of his frequent encounters with her during his work with the town’s emergency medical services, their shared interest in local history, a trip to document her roots in a mountain village in Upper New York State, and recorded personal interviews.
This program is co-sponsored by the Guilford Keeping Society and is free and open to all.
