Visions From France

Taking a new turn in a path can lead to unexpected marvels. Join the internationally acclaimed Lions Gate Trio–featuring violinist Katie Lansdale, cellist Darrett Adkins and pianist Florence Millet–in their celebration of bold French composers. Wagner’s lush timbres were the sound of his time, but Ernest Chausson dared to leaven it with shimmering pastels and endless melody.  Gabriel Faure rejected German Romanticism altogether in his D Minor trio, weaving instead into his novel harmonies the lilt of the Renaissance. And Christophe Bertrand, in his recent chamber work Treis, rejected the simplicity of melodic line altogether, creating instead glittering, suspended sonic textures.

This concert is presented by friends of the late Patricia W. Jaeger. We offer the music to remember Pat and to thank the Library for everything that it does for our community.
