
Marcie Slepian, PhD. will discuss the most outstanding works in the Prado, focusing on Spanish art, art collecting by the monarchy, and some of the museum’s misfortunes. The career of Diego Velasquez will be featured, as well as a look at the paintings and prints of Francisco Goya, and Spanish still-life. Artistic treasures of the collection by Flemish artists, Titian, and Rubens will be highlighted.
Marcie F. Slepian has an A.B. from Brown University and a Ph.D. from Yale University in the History of Art. She has lectured for the Shoreline Village and the Library for the past 10 years. Printmaking is one of her special interests.
