Teen Summer Reading Game – Escape the Library

The Teen Summer Reading game will kick off on Monday, June 24th and will end with our Summer Reading Finale party on Friday, August 23rd.

Do you Have What it Takes to Escape?

Starting on June 24th teens and tweens in grades 6-12 can sign up for our Teen Summer Reading Game, Escape the Library. All that is needed is your name, grade and email. Please note that we cannot accept school emails.

Each week (except for the first and last week) participants will be emailed a digital escape room. All of the escape rooms will be a section of the library. It could be the children’s room, adult stacks, the historical room, etc. In each escape room, there will be a digital locked door that requires either a password or passcode to unlock. Similar to an in person escape room, participants will search for clues to find the password or passcode to unlock the door. For every room escaped, participants can put their name in our Summer Reading Game Raffle for some awesome prizes!

Let’s talk more about this raffle! At the end of the Summer Reading Game on August 23, we will have a Summer Reading Finale party where we’ll pull names for our Free Summer Reading Raffle! This year we are going to have prize bundles. We’ll have a book bundle (for obvious reasons!), a video game bundle, a craft bundle, a snack bundle and several others! Each prize will have its own free raffle so participants will get to choose what raffle they want to put their names in. There are three ways to earn free raffle tickets:

Escape Rooms! Like stated previously, for every room participants escape they can enter their name in the free raffle 5 times.
Read Books! For every book read, they can enter their name in the free raffle 1 time. Just bring your reading log to the reference desk!
Attend Programs! For every program they attend they can enter their name into the free raffle 1 time. Our summer reading game programs and registration can be found on our events calendar.

If participants are struggling to escape one of the rooms, they can get a hint from the teen librarian! For every book read or program attended, participants can ask for a hint in lieu of a free raffle ticket.

More information about the escape rooms and the Summer Reading Game can be found on the Escape the Library website, which participants will have access to when they sign up.
