Second Annual CT Spooky Writing Contest

Event Details

Starting October 1st through October 31st, patrons of all ages are welcome to submit an original spooky story for our 1st annual CT statewide library writing contest.  Only one submission per person.  Select the age group of the writer, regardless of the intended audience of the story.  For example, a teen writing a children’s story would choose the teen category.  Submitted stories must:

  • include the author’s name and age group at the top of the first page
  • be set in Connecticut
  • be a minimum of two sentences and a maximum of 2,750 words
  • Not have excessive foul language or gore (think PG-13)
  • Not be plagiarized or written with AI
  • Not already be published somewhere else

The children’s (ages 6-11), teens (ages 12-18), and adult (ages 19+) departments will review all submissions within their age category and award a winner. The winner will earn a prize and their story will be published in the First Spooky CT Volume!
