This past June 16th, sixty-five people attended the Bloomsday Celebration at the library in commemoration of Ulysses, James Joyce’s epic novel. Joyce scholar, Dr. Lee Jacobus, introduced the novel and provided commentary for each of the selected passages that were read by members of our community. As a result of the evident interest in this masterpiece of 20th century literature, Dr. Jacobus has generously offered to facilitate a Ulysses Book Club at the library for those who want to read the novel or learn more about it. The group will meet over a nine-month period, from this September to next May, on the second Thursday of each month from 11:30 to 12:30 to discuss the section of the book chosen for that meeting. The group will finish reading the novel just before Bloomsday, June 16, 2026. If you would welcome the chance to re-read Ulysses, or if you have never read the book but want to know more about it, or if you have tried to read it without success, you can join the Ulysses Book Club!

This is a repeating event.  Please register once for all meetings.
