Gardens have become the front lines of conservation and climate change. During both world wars vegetable gardening was a significant home front contribution to the war effort where many individuals and their small gardens functioned together to make a large impact. The massive scale of the problem of climate change echoes these earlier victory garden movements. This discussion will outline the principles of the climate victory garden including the ways in which our gardens and yards can function to reduce expenditure of and store carbon, while encouraging biodiversity and providing an ecosystem for our pollinators. The conversation will focus on simple ways in which even the novice gardener can take part in this movement.
