Sign up for a 15-minute reading spot with Kolbe on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:00pm for ages 5 & up. Reading to one of our specially-trained therapy dogs makes reading out loud easier and helps build confidence. It’s also just plain fun.
Kolbe is a Labrador Retriever mix, although clearly his stomach is 100% labrador since he is always ready to eat! He is 12 years old, although he looks pretty good for an older guy. He has been making therapy visits for over ten years and loves getting out to meet people and making them as happy as he is.
Bob M., who is the guy on the other end of the leash, has been working with therapy dogs for almost 20 years. Really, working is not the right word, since the dogs are the ones doing the work. He lives in Guilford with his wife Michele and another labrador.
Registration required (call us) at (203) 453-8282.
An adult must accompany the child and wait nearby while the child is reading, but does not need to sit in on the actual session. All readers must check in at the children’s desk inside the library before reading to the dog. If you cannot make your session for any reason, please call us to cancel so we can open up the spot for other children, as spaces are limited.
