Event Details

One Saturday each month, come to the library to learn about local & global animals & plants and meet wildlife/animals.  Our Loeb’s Weekend Wildlife series aims to broaden understanding of and compassion for the environment, wildlife, and domestic animals through informative and interactive presentations.  Open to ages 5 & up.  Registration is required for each individual event.  Generously funded by the Allan Louis Loeb Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to animal causes and named in memory of a great local champion for animal welfare.

April 25th from 11:00am-12:00pm.  Meet a bald eagle and some of the other raptors that live here in Connecticut, including a vulture, hawk, and owl!  Presenter:  Horizon Wings.  Registration required.  Ages 5 & up.

*Important note – please read!*  Due to the sensitive nature of eagles, we are firm on the minimum age for this program being 5 years old.  Please find alternate care for younger siblings, as they will not be allowed to enter the room.  All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.  The accompanying adult must sit with any child who has a tendency towards exuberance and moderate their child’s behavior.  If you know your child cannot sit still and quiet, don’t sign up and take a spot away from someone else.  Space is more limited for this program than other Loeb’s Weekend Wildlife events, and registration will be checked at the door.  Those who are more than 15 minutes late may forfeit their spot if there are waitlisted people who arrived on time.  People who make sudden movements or loud noises will be asked to leave immediately.  We are serious about behavior expectations of attendees in order to ensure the safety of both the animal ambassadors and the audience members.  We appreciate your understanding.
