Through literature, film, and other media, the Writing Injustice Book Group invites the Guilford community to explore the issues of race and inequality that shape our history and our world.Â
In May, we will be discussing caring for our animal neighbors. We will read picture books about some of the animals we can see in our backyards and the things we can do to make the environment more healthy for them. We will be painting bird houses to take home and encourage birds to live in our yards. All registered participants who attend will receive a free children’s book on helping animals.
Mark Schenker returns to the Guilford Free Library with his Future Classics book discussion series. The second title in this two part series is The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride (2023) Kirkus Prize for Fiction, 2023.
Join our book club where we cook and discuss books! The first hour, we’ll be in the kitchen cooking up something delicious, and the last half hour, we’ll eat our creations and talk about books. This month we’ll be making dips! We’ll be making 2 savory and 2 sweet dips that we will try out while we’re talking books!
Free and open to all in grades 5-8. Registration is required.
Join us for a fun and informal conversation about new books at the Library, taking place the first Tuesday of every month from 11am to noon. Librarians will give you the inside scoop about which books are flying off the shelves as well as hot new titles scheduled for release. Group members can share what they are reading and get tips on what to read next.
This program will be held in a hybrid format; in person at the Library, and virtually on Zoom. Please register if you would like to attend the program virtually and a Zoom link will be emailed to you.
